According to this Daily Mail article the average British household lives on the same nine dishes.
I find this statistic very sad. No wonder why there are so many fussy eaters; they have not been exposed to different foods. This is exactly why I love Menu Monday, I felt I was getting into a rut with my cooking. I still rely on old favourites but I am trying expand my repertoire. The other shocking statistic in the article, was that “The average mother cooks just three meals from scratch, a week.” How can you justify the cost of convenience food?
And nine most relied-upon are…
1. Spaghetti Bolognese (meat sauce)
2. Roast dinner
3. Shepherds Pie/Cottage Pie
4. Pasta dish
5. Meat and two veg
6. Pizza
7. Casserole/stew
8. Sausages and chips/mash
9. Indian/Curry
Look at all the carbs, no wonder people are getting bigger.
Rant over, now on the matter at heart, my Menu Monday.
